Ένα από τα φαβορί του Mr. Olympia ο αμερικανός bodybuilder Nick Walker δεν θα αγωνιστεί στο Mr. Olympia 2023, «Με βαριά καρδιά δεν θα ανέβω στη σκηνή φέτος για απρόβλεπτους και ατυχείς λόγους που μας θυμίζουν ότι είμαστε μόνο άνθρωποι» δηλώνει ο Walker
Η αιτία της αποχώρησης
Σύμφωνα με τις δηλώσεις του Nick Walker αναγκάστηκε να αποχωρήσει από τη διοργάνωση λόγω σοβαρού τραυματισμού στον οπίσθιο μηριαίο μυ . Αν και προσπάθησε να το ξεπεράσει, κάνοντας όλες τις θεραπείες που μπορούσε, η κατάσταση του σταδιακά χειροτέρεψε, με αποτέλεσμα αυτός και η ομάδα να πάρουν την απόφαση να μην αγωνιστεί στο Mr. Olympia 2023
Σύμφωνα με τον προπονητή του Nick Walker, τον Matt Janson αυτή ήταν η καλύτερη προετοιμασία που είχαν ποτέ και μέχρι την περασμένη Πέμπτη το σώμα του το έδειξε αυτό με κάθε τρόπο, όμως έχουν γίνει τόσα πολλά σε αυτό το χρονικό διάστημα με αποτέλεσμα να μην μπορεί να αγωνιστεί.
Εδώ να επισημάνουμε πως προς το παρών δεν διευκρινίζετε πως ενώ όλα πήγαιναν τόσο καλά ξαφνικά είχαμε αυτόν τον τραυματισμό, ίσως αργότερα δοθούν κάποιες εξηγήσεις, η ρήξη που υπέστη είναι κάτι σοβαρό, όμως γνωρίζουμε πως οι επαγγελματίες έχουν γνώση για τους κινδύνους, και όσο μπορούν ελέγχουν την προετοιμασία τους κυρίως τις τελευταίες ημέρες

“It’s with a heavy heart I won’t be stepping stage this year due to unforeseen and unfortunate reasons that remind us we’re only human,” Walker shared.
“I have some very unfortunate news to deliver to you guys. I will not be competing in this year’s Mr. Olympia due to a hamstring tear that I did right before we actually came here.”
“I tried to push through it, I tried to do whatever I could, get all the treatments I could, literally did whatever it takes but it gradually got worse it did not progress in any shape or form. Me and my team thought it was best we just pull out because we knew there was no shot of us placing top three at this point or higher.”
“We do not want to drop placings. With how severe this tear is… we thought it was the best case. I also contacted Jim Manion, Dan Solomon, and Jake Wood, they were very supportive I am very thankful for those guys. They were very very supportive of this decision. They asked and made sure I needed anything and that makes me proud to be a part of this organization.”
“This was a very hard decision to make. This prep was very smooth and very easy to be honest, I kept telling Matt, every day, I’m going to win your first one.’ Then the last second this happens… and it just sucks because you don’t know what to do. If I know myself, it’s just another reason for me to come back stronger, another reason to come back better, and that’s what I’ll do.”

Nick Walker’s coach Matt Janson, was also devastated with Nick’s injury. Matt published the most recent photos of Nick, to show his incredible physique, just days out from the 2023 Mr. Olympia.
“It’s a sad day for our team. Really feel for Nick having to go through this and not be able to do what he loves and had prepared for all year.”
“I can confidently say this was the best prep we’ve ever had and up until last Thursday his body showed it in every way. So much has gone into what was going to culminate this weekend, and for him to not be able to compete just really sucks.”
